Certified Tester – Testing with Generative AI (CT-GenAI)
This is an ISTQB® certification that builds on your Foundation Level knowledge and teaches software testers and quality professionals how to use AI tools — specifically Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT — throughout the entire testing process. This includes everything from reviewing requirements and designing tests, to automating tasks, writing reports, and finding ways to continuously improve.
The course doesn't just cover theory — it also gives you hands-on practice with real-world examples, teaching you how to write effective prompts and apply AI tools to actual testing scenarios. You'll also learn how to use these tools responsibly by understanding and managing risks like AI "hallucinations", bias, security concerns, privacy issues, and environmental impact.

Prerequisites
You must already hold the ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) certification before you can sit the CT-GenAI exam.

After earning this certification, you can continue growing in your career by pursuing ISTQB® Advanced Level modules (such as Test Analyst, Technical Test Analyst, Test Manager, or Test Engineering), and eventually Expert Level certifications.

Entry Criteria
- To be eligible for the ISTQB® Certified Tester – Testing with Generative AI (CT-GenAI) exam, candidates should have passed an ISTQB® Foundation exam and should hold an ISTQB® Foundation certificate.
Time Bonus
- Non-Native-Speaker can ask for 25% extra time (time bonus) in ISTQB exams.
- In case of Foundation Level the extra time is 15 minutes (25% on 60 minutes exam time). So you have 75 minutes to answer your exam.
- To get a time bonus it is necessary to fill in and send back the Application form for non-native-speaker time bonus at least 2 working days before the exam.
- The certification authority will always check if your application has been filled correctly and if you are allowed to get the time bonus.
- During the exam (or directly before the exam) it is not possible to get time bonus.
- Also after the exam it is not possible anymore to re-open your exam to get time bonus.
