Terms & Conditions

The following rules and regulations govern all examinations held within Singapore Testing Qualifications Board Limited (SGTQB) and have been approved by the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB®):

For Online@Home Exam
  1. This examination offers in English. You will need the knowledge of English to understand the interface of our system and to communicate with the proctor.
  2. No breaks are allowed during exams.
  3. You will see your results immediately after finishing the exam.
  4. You will get your certificate within one week after the exam result via e-mail.
  5. You will receive an email after your registration for an Online@Home exam, please check your spam folder and contact us at [email protected] if you do not receive it.
  6. You will receive the system-check email 48 hours before your scheduled exam date, please check your spam folder and contact us at [email protected] if you do not receive it.
  7. You are required to produce your personal identification (e.g. NRIC, Employment or S Pass, Passport) to the Proctor for verification before entering the examination hall.
  8. No smoking and beverages or food are allowed during the examination.
  9. You agree to allow SGTQB to include your name in any database, posting it to directory of certified person unless you have further indicated.
  10. Any misbehavior or activity which causes inconvenience during examination is not permitted.
  11. The Proctor reserves the right to revoke you from examination if he /she suspects that you have violated any of the above conditions.
  12. An administrative fee of SGD90 will be applied for exam postponement requested within 7 days of the intended exam date.
  13. If the candidate wants to change their personal information after booking the exam, there will be an admin fee charge of SGD60.
  14. If the candidate cancels the exam and does not take it, that exam fees are non-refundable.
For Paper-based Exam
  1. This examination offers in English. You will need the knowledge of English to understand and to communicate with the invigilator.
  2. No breaks are allowed during examinations.
  3. Mark your answer by filling in the selected label box completely on a separate answer sheet provided. If you change an answer, ensure to erase thoroughly and make no stray marks on the answer sheet. Answers with stray marks are scored as incorrect.
  4. You will receive your result four days after the exam date.
  5. You will get your certificate within one week after the exam result via e-mail.
  6. You must arrive at least 15 minutes before the designated examination time. Those who are late will not be allowed into the examination hall. Late arrival is not tolerated.
  7. You are required to produce your personal identification (e.g. NRIC, Employment or S Pass, Passport) to the invigilator for verification before entering the examination hall.
  8. No materials, including but not limited to books, bags, notes or unauthorized materials are allowed on the examination desks except Examination paper and answer sheet.
  9. Writing instruments (self-supplied stationery, the blank A4 paper provided)
  10. No recording, computational or communication devices of any kind are allowed, including but not limited to mobiles, calculators, cameras and computers. All should be turned off and stored away as instructed by the invigilator.
  11. No talking or any kind of communication is allowed. Should you require any assistance pertaining to the examination, please approach the invigilator. Do not disturb other candidates.
  12. No smoking and beverages or food are allowed during the examination.
  13. Any misbehavior or activity, which causes inconveniences or disruptions to other candidates, is not permitted.
  14. The Invigilator reserves the right to revoke you from examination and escort you out of the examination hall, shall he/she suspect that you have violated any of the above conditions.
  15. You agree not to release any question of the examination paper, recreate any examination question from memorizing, create any replica examination question, or distribute any examination question or replica examination question and understands that should you do so, your certification will forfeit and may disqualify from future certification by SGTQB on behalf of ISTQB
  16. You agree to allow SGTQB to include your name in any database, posting it to directory of certified person unless you have further indicated.

All candidates are deemed to have read and to agree to abide by these and other examination regulations as determined by the SGTQB from time to time. Any infringement of these regulations may have serious consequences and may be referred to a Board of Enquiry. It is in the interests of all examination candidates to co-operate to ensure that the examinations are conducted in a proper and orderly manner.

The minimum requirements for a candidate to write any CTAL certification are:

  • The candidate must have passed an ISTQB® CTFL exam and hold an ISTQB® CTFL certificate.

The Full Advanced Level Certificate is earned by passing all four exams; i.e., CTAL Test Manager, CTAL Test Analyst, CTAL Technical Test Analyst and CTAL Security Tester.

The minimum requirements for a candidate to write any CTEL certification are:

  • The candidate must have passed an ISTQB® CTFL exam and hold and ISTQB® CTFL certificate.
  • The candidate must have passed an ISTQB® CTAL Test Manager exam and have an ISTQB® CTAL Test Manager certificate or hold an ISEB Practitioner certificate earned by passing an exam taken no later than 31 March 2008 or hold an ISEB Test Management.
  • Practitioner certificate earned by passing an exam against the new ISEB Practitioner Syllabus (since 1 April 2008)
  • Except as specified above, no other ISEB certification will satisfy the entry criteria for the Expert Test Manager certification
  • The candidate must have at least 5 years of full-time practical testing experience
  • The candidate must have at least 2 years of industry experience in the specific Expert Level topic

The Foundation Level Core exam has no pre-requisites. Preparation on the syllabus topics (obtained either through attending a course provided by an accredited Training Provider, and/or through self-study) is recommended.To take a specialist exam, as well as the Foundation Level Agile Tester exam, the candidate must hold a Foundation Level Core certificate, obtained by passing the Foundation Level Core exam. The possession of the Foundation Level Core Certificate may have to be proven by the candidate. Your local ISTQB® Member Board, or Exam Provider may allow you to take the Foundation Level Core exam on the same day as the specialist exam. Please talk to your local ISTQB® Member Board or Exam Provider to find out if they offer this option.

To take an Advanced Level exam (Core or Specialist), the candidate must hold the relevant Foundation Level Certificate (Core or Specialist) obtained by passing the relevant Foundation Level exam. The possession of the Foundation Level Certificate may have to be proven by the candidate. ISTQB® also recommends practical experience before taking any advanced exam.To take the Expert Level exam, the candidate must hold the appropriate Advanced Level Certificate as stated for that specific Expert Level exam.

For the currently released Expert syllabi (“Improving the test process” and “Test Manager”) the Advanced Level Test Manager certificate is required. Required certificates for Expert Level are shown in the “Expert Level Module Overview” document. ISTQB® also recommends at least 7 years of practical experience.
